Salt, Grooves, and Garlic

Salt, Grooves, and Garlic is an action-rhythm game in which players combat monsters to the beat of music inside procedurally generated dreamscapes. The project was developed by a 10+ person team and awarded 2nd place, Best Overall Game at Level Up Showcase 2026 (Presented by Zynga), a judging category that weighs mechanics, level design, interface, controls, user experience, and emotional impact.

My contributions as a programmer:

  • Designed and implemented the rhythm-based input system, boss attack patterns, and the dynamic “Groove Meter” health/performance mechanic.
  • Integrated 3D models, animations, and UI from the art team into Unity to deliver a cohesive gameplay experience.
  • Participated in agile development cycles, including weekly stand-ups and playtesting sessions, iterating on the design based on user feedback.
